Yay its finally over!
In the last slide, we discussed the 1920's, but after the 1920's came the Great Depression. During the Depression, people started to think twice about prohibition and wanted to make money. Herbert Hoover called prohibition "a noble experiment" and enforced it but it was bad for the economy. Millions of people lost their jobs when the factories, bars, and saloons were shut down. When Herbert Hoover got beat by Franklin D Roosevelt in 1933, FDR decided to repeal prohibition. In 1933, FDR passed the 22nd Amendment that repealed the 18th. FDR is rumored to celibrate the end of prohibition by drinking his favorite drink: a dirty martini. Prohibition was finally ended!
